Housing Needs Assessment 2015
WSW Consulting was the Project Manager, in team with Rees Consulting, Inc. The Town of Winter Park is in a unique position of owning nearly 10-acres of land upon which affordable housing for its residents and workforce can be developed. Wanting to help address the employee shortages faced by local businesses and increase the year-round vibrancy of its small community, the Town of Winter Park needed to understand whether the local workforce wanted to live in Town and, if so, how much and what type of housing was needed. This study identified the number, type and price points of housing units needed by the local workforce wanting to call Winter Park their home.
Based on this study, the Town has (for the first time) committed to building 30 to 40 units of affordable ownership and rental housing over each of the next five years. Workforce housing is one of the top issues of concern that the town is addressing to help enhance the local economy and increase year-round community vibrancy.
